Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Dear Mumtaz Community – Parents, Teachers, and Students,

As we celebrate World Tourism Day on September 27th, 2024, we extend a special greeting to the entire Mumtaz International School community – parents, teachers, and students alike. We recognize the vital role each of you plays in shaping young minds and fostering a sense of global citizenship.

September 27th, 2024, marks the annual World Tourism Day, a global observance that highlights the transformative impact of tourism on economies, communities, and individuals. As we come together to celebrate this day, we recognize the immense potential of travel to foster cultural understanding, drive economic growth, and promote sustainable development.

The Origin of World Tourism Day

World Tourism Day was established by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in 1980 to highlight the economic, cultural, and environmental impact of tourism across the globe.

The Importance of Tourism

Tourism is much more than vacations or sightseeing. It’s about exploring new cultures, broadening our understanding of the world, and making lifelong memories. Whether it’s enjoying a family holiday, discovering local traditions, or appreciating nature’s beauty, tourism enriches our lives.

Celebrating Tourism at Mumtaz International School

This year, we embraced the spirit of World Tourism Day by engaging our community in meaningful conversations. We conducted interviews with both staff and students, who shared their personal experiences of tourism. These stories ranged from memorable family trips to lessons learned from exploring new cultures and destinations.

Additionally, our themed lessons on tourism helped students understand the broader impact of travel on global awareness, cultural exchange, and sustainability. These activities inspired lively discussions about the importance of tourism in fostering peace and mutual respect across different communities.

Exploring Our Local Treasures

As we embrace sustainable tourism, I encourage all of you to take time to explore the beautiful sites right here in our region. Some notable destinations include:

  • National Parks and Wildlife Reserves: Perfect for nature lovers, these areas offer a chance to see wildlife up close while enjoying eco-friendly adventures.

  • Historical Sites and Cultural Centers: Explore the rich history of our community by visiting local museums, heritage buildings, and cultural landmarks that tell the story of our region.

By visiting these local gems, we contribute to sustainable tourism and ensure that future generations can enjoy them as well.

This year’s theme, "Tourism and Peace," reminds us of the power tourism has in fostering global understanding and friendship while also promoting eco-friendly practices. By embracing sustainable tourism, we can help preserve our natural resources, protect cultural heritage, and support local businesses.

Wishing the entire Mumtaz community a wonderful and meaningful World Tourism Day!

Warm regards,
